Description

A six year Japanese machine domination was finally halted in the exciting 1985 French Motocross Grand Prix at Thouars. American Danny 'Magoo' Chandler had a win and a second on his KTM to move to third in the world championship behind Belgian Andre Malherbe (Honda) and Briton Dave Thorpe (Honda). Malherbe fought a terrific battle with Chandler in the first leg, which this video captures vividly. Thorpe had a troubled first race but took a second race win over Chandler. Witness the spectacle of Thorpe’s strength sapping effort as he strives to overcome his first leg retirement and put his Honda into third overall behind Erik Geboers.
